Job Description:
This individual will perform research related to the development and application of an integrated multiscale methodology for simulating electrocatalysis at the metal-oxide/electrolyte interface. This will involve formulation and bench marking of the general methodology within the framework of a prototype code, followed by integration within the LAMMPS and VASP simulation codes. After successful implementation, the individual will apply the method to study the oxygen evolution reaction on metal oxide surfaces.
70% - Develop and apply an integrated multiscale methodology for simulating electrocatalysis at the metal-oxide/electrolyte interface within the LAMMPS and VASP simulation codes
20% - Write manuscripts and support proposal writing and reports on various projects
10% - Mentor students and participate in collaborations
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, and Chemistry or equivalent
Candidates with a strong background and publications in method development related to quantum chemical, density functional theory, or molecular simulation method development. In addition, a theoretical understanding of electrocatalysis or catalysis at the mechanistic and quantum chemical level is desirable. Experience with programming in Fortran 90 is a plus.
