Some companies are selling illegal copies of VASP.

VASP can only be acquired legally in two ways:

  1. Purchase a license directly from the University of Vienna (send a request to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).
    Note: all legal licenses hold a signature of Georg Kresse, Jürgen Hafner or Doris Vogtenhuber.
  2. Purchase a license from Materials Design Inc., or their official resellers.

All legal copies are centrally registered.

NEW RELEASE: P4VASP 0.3.23

It has been quite some time since the last release, but now finally a new version of p4vasp is released!

P4vasp 0.3.23 contains several improvements and bug fixes:

  • Inverse Participation Ratio available in electronic applet.
  • Speed of MD can be set in Structure viewer/Control.
  • Numeric/Numarray support has been replaced by the NumPy support (including in the velocity autocorelation applet).
  • Bug in the Dielectric function has been fixed.
